Training To Become A Teacher at Princethorpe

Thinking of becoming a teacher? Then why not consider training at Princethorpe College.

Whether you are a new graduate or contemplating a career change, we have opportunities available across the subjects but particularly for those with a Maths or Science degree. 

Though our association with the Lion Alliance, we offer a year’s training as part of the School Direct scheme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status. Placements would be at Princethorpe and also at other schools within the Lion Alliance. Our training is supported by Warwick University, Birmingham City University and by our experienced mentors here.

Now in its third year our successful scheme also attracts bursaries from the government of between £7,000 and £24,000 to support those training in Chemistry, Computing, Maths, Physics, Languages and Biology.

  • Estates Assistants - Evenings / Weekends

    Princethorpe College

    We have a range of Part-Time roles available working either evenings, weekends or both. Working within the Estates team on a permanent or casual basis. 

    The Estates Assistant will work as part of the Estates team providing support services to all schools. Based at Princethorpe College the duties will primarily involve maintenance work, porterage and some cleaning. Applicants with some carpentry, plumbing or decorating skills would be most welcome. Flexibility will be required in respect of working hours. Relevant training will be provided.

    The successful applicant will need to undertake various Health and Safety courses before the commencement of work.

    You must be able to provide a high quality service to staff, pupils and visitors and be enthusiastic as well as honest, trustworthy and reliable, able to lift and to work on his/her own as well as part of a team. Applicants should preferably have a clean full driving licence.

    This is a ‘hands-on’ role facilitating the proper functioning of the schools to ensure a safe and satisfactory working, learning and recreational environment.

    Interested candidates should be able to show flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of users of the school.

Opportunities at Princethorpe College

From time to time we look to recruit additional teaching and support staff in the following areas:

  • Exam Invigilators – to assist in the smooth running of internal and public examinations
  • SEND support staff – for in-class, small group and one-to-one work with pupils
  • Cover Teaching Staff – being part of a team available for short-term and long-term supply work
  • Games Coaching – to assist with our wide-ranging sports programme
