Training To Become A Teacher at Princethorpe

Thinking of becoming a teacher? Then why not consider training at Princethorpe College.

Whether you are a new graduate or contemplating a career change, we have opportunities available across the subjects but particularly for those with a Maths or Science degree. 

Though our association with the Lion Alliance, we offer a year’s training as part of the School Direct scheme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status. Placements would be at Princethorpe and also at other schools within the Lion Alliance. Our training is supported by Warwick University, Birmingham City University and by our experienced mentors here.

Now in its third year our successful scheme also attracts bursaries from the government of between £7,000 and £24,000 to support those training in Chemistry, Computing, Maths, Physics, Languages and Biology.

    Princethorpe College

    We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Sports Science Graduate to join the thriving Sports Department at our School as a Sports Coach and Teaching Assistant. The post is initially for the 2021-2022 academic year, but could be extended for the right candidate. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about sport and wish to share that passion with enthusiastic and energetic young people. The post would suit someone who is considering a teaching career, however, no teaching experience is required.

    The Graduate Sports Coach will be responsible for the teaching and coaching of several sports under the direction and guidance of the Foundation’s Director of Sport and will also work closely with the Head of Girls’ and Boys’ Games and other sports staff. They must ensure that all teaching, coaching, administrative and pastoral tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard, enabling the continued success, enjoyment and enthusiasm for sport at Princethorpe. It is hoped that they will add to the profile of the school and inject energy and enthusiasm into our pupils.

    The role will also support other teaching staff in selected lessons and assist support staff across a range of duties including the student hub and administration and assist in whole school Open Events.

    Single accommodation may be available, and all meals will be provided in school during term-time.

Opportunities at Princethorpe College

From time to time we look to recruit additional teaching and support staff in the following areas:

  • Exam Invigilators – to assist in the smooth running of internal and public examinations
  • SEND support staff – for in-class, small group and one-to-one work with pupils
  • Cover Teaching Staff – being part of a team available for short-term and long-term supply work
  • Games Coaching – to assist with our wide-ranging sports programme
