Ten Pupils Qualify For ISA Athletics Nationals

Crescent School had a phenomenal day on Wednesday 4 June at the ISA Midlands Athletics Championships in Wolverhampton, with students delivering outstanding performances across track and field events. 

Competing against 34 schools, Crescent athletes rose to the occasion, securing a huge medal haul and seeing the Boys crowned overall champions of the day!

Notable highlights from the event include a stand-out performance from Joshua in the Year 4 Boys 600m, winning in a superb time of 2:00.98 minutes, earning himself a place at the ISA National Finals in Birmingham. Then a further nine athletes also finishing in first place to qualify for the Nationals, the most Crescent students ever to qualify for this prestigious event.

Field Event Stars:

  • Maxi E – 1st in Year 6 Boys Long Jump - National Qualifier
  • Sam Y – 1st in Year 6 Boys High Jump – National Qualifier
  • Feranmi – 1st in Year 4 Boys Long Jump – National Qualifier
  • Roisin C – 2nd in Year 6 Girls High Jump
  • Ava L – 3rd in Year 5 Girls Long Jump
  • Zac J - 1st in Year 6 Boys Shot Put - Nationals Qualifier
  • Lilah W - 4th in Year 5 Girls Vortex Throw

Middle Distance Success:

  • Amber M – 2nd in Year 5 Girls 600m - Nationals Qualifier
  • Kian G – 3rd in Year 5 Boys 600m
  • Roisin C,  Alex B and Penelope P also placed strongly in their 600m events.

Sprint Finalists:

  • Ava L – 2nd in Year 5 Girls 70m
  • Tomisin L – 3rd in Year 5 Boys 70m
  • Finn C – 4th in Year 4 Boys 60m
  • Kiki – 5th in Year 4 Girls 60m

Relay Magic:

  • Year 5 Girls (Ava, Lilah, Esme, Amber) – 1st place and heading to Nationals!
  • Year 6 Boys (Sam, Akaal, Zac, Alex B) – 2nd place, narrowly missing Nationals by 0.1s.
  • Year 5 Boys (Alfie, Thomas, Tomisin, Kian) – 2nd place in a thrilling heat.
  • Year 4 Boys (Feranmi, Finn, Elliott, Josh) – 2nd place, adding another silver to the tally.

This year's ISA Midlands Athletics was a day to remember. Every student gave their all, showing determination, sportsmanship and school spirit. A huge thank you to all the staff who supported the event.
