Musicians Enjoy Uppingham School's Orchestra Day

06 Feb

Talented young musicians from Year 5 and Year 6, attended Uppingham’s School Orchestra Day on Thursday 5 February, alongside musicians from numerous prep schools.

Pupils rehearsed in groups and as a mass orchestra and really enjoyed making music together.

The enrichment session was led by musicians from Uppingham and was themed ‘Sonic Supernova’. Pupils performed a selection of pieces including Holst’s The Planet’s, Copland’s Fanfare For The Common ManMission Impossible and Fly Me To The Moon.

In the region of 200 pupils were involved and words can simply not do justice to the incredible sound the combined orchestra made. The children should each be incredibly proud of their efforts. The final concert performance, to which parents were invited, was spectacular.

Crescent’s pupils were, as always, a credit to the school and engaged with enthusiasm and musicality. A huge well done to all involved.
