Ten Medals For Crescent At The ISA Midlands Athletics

The school took a team of athletes from Years 5 and 6 to Saffron Lane Stadium in Leicester on Monday 11 May to compete against 33 schools from across the Midlands at the Regional ISA Athletics.
Many of the children put in fantastic performances and were proud to achieve personal bests. Ten pupils won medals and five Crescent School pupils finished in first place and have qualified for the National Championships.
Head of PE and Games, Rachel McCollin praised the outstanding attitude adopted by the Crescent team who as always behaved impeccably, cheering their fellow athletes on enthusiastically.
“We had an absolutely fabulous day,” commented Mrs McCollin, “I was very pleased with our results, there were many excellent individual performances and all of our teams reached the finals of the sprint relay. The children well and truly rose to the challenge of our ‘little school big ambitions’ motto!”
Awarded Gold medals and qualifying for the Nationals were:
- Year 5 Girls 75m - Kiki - 1st
- Year 5 Boys 75m - Feranmi -1st
- Year 5 Boys Howler Throw - Joshua - 1st
- Year 5 Boys Long Jump - Feranmi - 1st
- Year 5 Boys Relay - Feranmi, Joshua, Walter and Finn - 1st
Securing second place and Silver medals:
- Year 5 Boys 600m - Joshua - 2nd
- Year 6 Boys Shot Putt - Thomas - 2nd
- Year 6 Boys High Jump - Kian - 2nd
Finishing third and earning themselves Bronze medals:
- Year 6 Girls High Jump - Amber - 3rd
- Year 6 Girls Relay – Amber, Lilah, Esme and Evelyn - 3rd
The Year 5 Boys team also finished 1st overall, with the Year 6 Boys team finishing 3rd overall.
The ISA National Track and Field Championships take place later this term on Monday 15 June, at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
It was another unforgettable day of athletics excellence.
