Learning Mentors Relaunches For The New School Year

28 Sep

Our Learning Mentors programme has restarted, and we have welcomed new mentors and mentees to the scheme.

The initiative underpins Crescent School’s emphasis on building ownership, to support and empower pupils in their learning. It enables the children to take responsibility for their progress and all pupils from Year 1 up to Year 6 take part.

Some pupils had prepared by completing the Crescent Learner Profile, self-assessing their learning traits, and they brought their assessment to their first meeting. Staff discussed the profiles, the children’s latest report and their feelings about their start to the school year. They helped them reflect on feedback and comments from their teachers and encouraged them to choose and agree on the academic targets they want to work on this year.

The children were all excited by the opportunity, and we know it motivates their learning as they strive to achieve their own set goals. We look forward to reviewing their targets with them over the coming year.

Thank you to everyone for participating so enthusiastically and to our Year 6s for their sterling organisation of the day.
