Eco Teams Create Striking Activism Art

08 Dec

On Tuesday 2 December, as part of their dedicated sustainability day working on the Foundation COP’s Plastic Treaty, Crescent's Green Team took time out to create a striking art installation that supported pupils’ learning on the issue of single-use plastics.

Led by Princethorpe College's DT Teacher, Tom Walton, the artivism project created a giant plastic recycling bin in the shape of the Foundation’s Tower logo.

Prior to the day, all three Foundation schools had collected plastic drinks bottles and painted them in one of four colours, orange to represent Little Crackers Nursery, burgundy for Crackley Hall, green for Crescent School and blue for Princethorpe College.

On the day, pupils carefully assembled each of the four separate recycling bins, attaching plastic bottles to the sides. It was inspiring to see the three schools working together and while the assembly took a lot of teamwork, the finished piece looked incredible.

Going forward, the bins will be sited at each of the schools and serve as recycling points for plastic bottles.
