Crescent School is celebrating after Year 4 pupil, Feranmi, won a Gold medal in the Long Jump at the Independent Schools Association’s National Track and Field Athletics Championships.
The school was delighted to have ten athletes qualify for the National Finals that took place on Monday 16 June, after a very successful outing at the Regional Qualifier earlier in the month. Crescent’s pupils travelled to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham to compete, an inspirational venue that has hosted many elite international athletes over the years.
Head of PE and Games, Rachel McCollin, said, “Qualifying to represent the Midlands team was a fantastic achievement in itself. We always tell the children to believe in themselves and push beyond their own boundaries and they certainly did that. They all enjoyed competing against the best athletes in the country for their age group. They represented their school and region fantastically and I was incredibly impressed by their performance and their behaviour on the day.”
As a special treat Feranmi got to meet Team GB athlete, Olympic, European and Commonwealth finalist, Alex Bell.
