Green Team Focus On Water

26 Feb

The Green Team were off timetable on Friday 23 February taking part in a sustainability workshop.

This year, Crescent School’s Green Team is focusing their sustainability efforts on three key areas, bio-diversity, waste and water. Their activities last Friday were all about the sustainable use of water.

The morning’s challenge was to construct a sustainable water collection system. The pupils began by building models before moving on to construct a waterproof structure with gutters and downpipes to harvest rainwater. Many thanks to Alan Stapleton and Adam Thirsk of Roam in the Community for leading the workshop.

In the afternoon, the pupils put their new skills into action when they installed water butts in the school grounds with Caretaker, Mr Knowles.

It was a great day with for the Green Team with lots of fantastic learning that they are looking forward to sharing with everyone.
