Learning Mentors Relaunches For New School Year
Our Learning Mentors programme that empowers pupils in their learning has restarted for new school year.
Our Learning Mentors programme commenced on Tuesday 16 September and we welcomed new mentors and mentees to the scheme. The initiative underpins Crescent School’s emphasis on building self-regulation, supporting and empowering pupils in their learning. It enables the children to take responsibility for their learning and all pupils from Year 1 up to Year 6 take part.
Pupils in Years 3 to 6 had prepared by completing the Crescent Learner Profile, self-assessing their learning traits, and they brought their assessment to their first meeting. Staff discussed the profiles and the children’s work with them, they helped them reflect on feedback and comments and encouraged them to choose and agree the academic targets they want to work on this year.
The children were all excited by the opportunity and we know it motivates their learning as they strive to achieve their own set goals. We look forward to reviewing their targets with them over the coming year.
Thank you to everyone for participating so enthusiastically and to our Year 6s for their sterling organisation of the day.
