Local MP Visits Crescent's Pupils To Discuss Sustainability

The visit was a result of pupils’ correspondence with Mr Slinger last year when the children shared their concerns about plastic pollution and the impact it has on the natural environment. 

He began his visit with a short talk where he introduced himself and then spoke about the role of a Member of Parliament, the work he does with constituents in Rugby and in London in the House of Commons. He then took part in a lively Q&A where the children asked some incredibly thoughtful and passionate questions about the environment, protecting our local green spaces, issues such as water and air quality, as well as more general questions, what it’s really like to work in Parliament, speak in debates, as well as, most importantly, what his favourite subject was at school?

A huge thank you to Mr Slinger for taking the time to listen and engage with our pupils’ ideas and for helping to empower our learners. It was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to see that their voices matter to those in influential positions. We are so proud of the children’s commitment to working towards a greener future!
